Holidays and Leisure

1. There are two semesters in one academic year in HDU. The first semester commences in early September and terminates in mid- or late January of the following year. The second semester commences in late February and terminates in mid-July. There are about 20 weeks in one semester.

2. Besides the winter and summer vacations each year, there is a 1-day holiday for New Year’s Day, May Day and traditional Chinese festivals respectively (including Tomb-sweeping Day, Dragon Boat Festival, Mid-autumn Day), and a 3-day holiday for National Day. The school will not have holidays for other anniversaries or traditional festivals.

3.  Students may travel in areas open to foreigners during vacations and holidays, but you need a travel permit if you travel to areas not yet open to foreigners. It is illegal to enter a non-open area without a permit.

4.
The university will also organize various cultural activities every year for international students to make their life in China more vivid, to enhance friendship among students from different countries and to leave a wonderful memory of their study in HDU and in China. Therefore we expect your active participation.
